Artist’s Bio

I grew up as the oldest of three children, and my father’s work took our family to the east and west coasts of the United States. The longest period that we lived in one place was five years in Germany, where my siblings and I attended German schools, immersing us in a second language and culture.

Art and drawing were part of the middle school curriculum in German school. As my family travel in Europe, we were fortunate to be exposed first-hand to the artistic masterpieces featured in many European art galleries.

After returning to the United States, I attended high school in Hershey, PA, where my high school class voted me “Best Artist.” I studied drawing and painting at the State University of New York at Binghamton. However, I selected a “more practical” career path, with a focus on Sociology, Philosophy and Psychology. Later, these interests led to a master’s degree in Counseling at Gallaudet University, followed by a doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Antioch University New England.

I worked for more than 35 years as a clinical psychologist, specializing in neuropsychology, disability evaluations, and services to the deaf community. When the Covid-19 pandemic made it difficult to continue to provide in-person services, I decided to retire from my psychology practice.

My wife, Ginny McDaniel, and I are now free to travel, go for hikes with our dog, Maisy, and spend quality time with our children and grandchildren.

I am also free to bring my plein air easel out into the world to discover new subjects and inspirations for painting.
